About the Outback Writers' Centre
The Outback Writers' Centre (OWC) is committed to building a vibrant writing culture in the Orana Region.
We do this by providing writers with opportunities to develop their knowledge, understanding and practice in all aspects of writing.

- Inspire and mentors new and emerging writers.
- Provide networking opportunities.
- Provide skills development and cross fertilization of ideas and techniques at the monthly Saturday meeting.
- Provide a variety of longer, skills based, workshops presented by writers recognised in their genre.
- Provide publishing opportunities through the OWC newsletter, particularly to new and emerging writers.
- Encourage members to participate in competitions and literary awards.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with local media for the publication of members’ works.
- Support the Boldrewood Literary Awards, in partnership with the Macquarie Regional Library.
- Encourage, support and develop writing in the regions’ diverse geographical and cultural communities.
- Recognise the importance of volunteers, and grow to a point where OWC can support salaried workers.
The range of services enjoyed by OWC members include:
• Email and facebook updates of opportunities and competitions
• Website links driving traffic to your blogs, books, launches, business and writing events
• Promotion of book launches
• Opportunities to sell books at our events
• Ongoing participation in the Hub (though this is not obligatory).
The membership fee for OWC is $30 for wage earners and $25 for non-wage earners per annum.
